Mike Permit Mike Snook Mike King Mike Bonito Capt Q Snook

... Mike just got a new 22 ft Pathfinder Boat so Saturday was its maiden voyage. Main purpose was to break in the engine and check that everything else on the boat was in good working order. Secondary purpose was to make sure that the “it catches fish like crazy” option that was purchased was installed and working correctly too. Glad to report, engine, boat and “it catches fish like crazy” all checked out. After performing the initial break in period for the engine (per the manual of course) it was time to check out the boat itself. Live wells were first on the list. Filled up right away and looked like they were working to spec, so had to fill them with live sardines to see just how many they could hold. Result = more than we could use in a day. Started the day by targeting some fun fish just to get the stink out the boat and get some fish slime on the deck. Bonitos & King Fish were co-operating. Then figured we’d target a little more glamorous species so Permit were next. Glad to report the Pathfinder looks pretty good with Permit on deck (34 lbs). A few more permit schooled us on why they have grow to the size they have, entertaining none the less. We then moved to the inlet to take advantage of the awesome Snook fishing this time of year. Tide was not ideal but a little persistence produced a few smaller fish along with two nice size ladies (lady Snook that is !). So all in all an excellent first day for the Pathfinder, now that we showed it what to do I’m sure it will be taking Mike to many more such days. If you are not fishing this time of year you are truly missing out. Fishing is going to be red hot through end of September (tropical storms and hurricanes permitting), then we’ll have to start working hard again for fish.
