... Went Fly fishing for Spinner/Blacktip sharks today. The sharks are in thick now and will be here for about another month. Size ranges from 60 to 130lbs. These fish are such a blast, words aren't sufficient to describe the run and aerial show. You have to experience this for yourself. The bite is incredible, head out the water munching down on the fly. If you like to catch big fish on fly you really owe it to yourself to do this, you won't regret it. Your reel is literally vibrating they run so fast and they just keep going & going & going, its awesome ... throw in some spinning jumps and ... dare I say ... these fish are just as exciting as Tarpon on fly. We landed a few, had another one three quarters into the backing and a bunch of bites where they missed the fly. Mackerel and Bluefish are still here so spent some time catching these (on the 5 wt). These sharks are not much casting practice but are definitely excellent fish fighting practice. Catching these sharks on bait would be ridiculous right now ... Einstein would have to revise his theory to ... One bait in the water is relative to one shark flying through the air approaching the speed of light. Got some of the action on video, not much in the way of pictures. There were only two of us so had our hands full handling the sharks next to the boat. Here is a shot of Josh doing some heavy lifting.
